Project: Sligo City Qview Traffic Model

The Sligo Traffic & Transportation Study was carried out for the Corporation of Sligo, now Sligo Borough Council.

The primary purpose of the study was to detail a future road network for the Borough of Sligo and its environs.

The plan made provisions for:

• Pedestrians
• Cyclists
• Public and commercial road and rail transport
• Car-parking

This Study comprised a major review of traffic in Sligo with the purpose of defining a future transportation plan for the Town. The Study included detailed traffic surveys and the evaluation of alternative road networks using the Qview computerised modelling package.

The Study also included an appraisal of traffic management, parking and the environment in the Town and included recommendations for landscaping and streetscape improvements. The study recommended the adoption of the W5 Inner Relief Route linking Caltragh to Hughes Bridge.
