Harbour & Coastal

The Atkins Water Team in Ireland has many years experience of marine and coastal engineering work. In particular we have been involved in the development of small leisure and fishery harbours around the south-west coast. These have included the extension of the quay wall at Long Island (Schull), Co Cork as part of a programme to improve access to the inhabited islands off the Irish coast. We also develop master plans for the development of harbours, such as that prepared for Crookhaven in West Cork which provided for repairs to the existing quay walls and the extension of the main quay in the village. The plan also addressed the land-side facilities and infrastructure necessary to support the development of the harbour.

Working with our colleagues in the Atkins Rivers & Coastal Team we provide the entire suite of marine engineering capabilities, from coastal protection schemes to wetland management, and from small quays and marinas to large commercial ports and docks.
