The catchment of Newhaven and its environs count 34,000 people and cover an area of approximately 1,440 ha located in East Sussex on the south east coast of England. The verified CS InfoWorks model provided included 3802 manholes, 167 kms of pipes and 56 pumping station. |
| Scope |
- The review assessed the performance of the scheme against: Stochastic FEH rainfall with the peak storm intensity increased by 20% to provide an allowance for climate change, A wastewater consumption rate of 178 l/h/d and reports of operational problems occurring since the original scheme was developed.
- Any alterations to ensure the scheme provide the required target level flood relief was documented in position statement and output brief
- Prepare costing, carry out site visits and undertake aerial maps desktop studies to recommend the most cost effective option
- Prepare risk assessments for each option

- Prepare position statement and output briefs for each schemes
- Prepare Hydraulic Assessments of critical properties (DG5s)
- Prepare deliverables to be included into the final Live Southern Water Area Asset Plan, which will allow the end users to get a permanently updated snapshot of the sewer system and its hydraulic deficiencies

- Eleven schemes were reviewed. Of these the largest ones included:
- Scheme 1: upsize 91 m of 300mm diameter sewer, construct 127 m of new 225mm diameter sewer, provide 410 m3 of offline storage, construct a 8 l/s pumping station and construct 30m of new 100 mm diameter rising main.
- Scheme 2: upsize 470 m of 1050mm diameter sewer, and construct 313 m of new 450mm, 750 & 1050mm diameter sewer.
